Ledger's death is ruled accidental

The death of Australian actor Heath Ledger has been ruled accidental by the New York City Medical Examiner's Office.
The office said today that the 28-year-old actor died due to the abuse of prescription medications.
A statement said: "Mr Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine."
"We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications."
The actor's family released a statement saying: "Today's results put an end to speculation, but our son's beautiful spirit and enduring memory will forever remain in our hearts."
"While no medications were taken in excess, we learned today the combination of doctor-prescribed drugs proved lethal for our boy."
The statement also said: "Heath's accidental death serves as a caution to the hidden dangers of combining prescription medication, even at low dosage."
Ledger was found dead at his New York apartment on 22 January.

"Do you remember that silly little outfit I had to wear? it was so unflattering, a little green mini-toga. I was perennially trying to pull it down so you didn't see my bum." LOGAN'S RUN star JENNY AGUTTER on her outfit in the 1976 movie.

Josh Holloway - Man Jailed After Robbing Lost Star

A man has been sentenced to up to 30 years in prison after he robbed one of main stars of the TV show Lost.

In October 2005, Ruben Royce, 23, broke into the Hawaii home of actor Josh Holloway.

He held the star and his wife Yessica at gunpoint before stealing their wallets and car.

In February, Royce pleaded guilty to multiple charges including kidnapping, first-degree robbery, burglary and car theft.

Judge Karl Sakamoto claimed Royce was responsible for "a tidal wave of crime" throughout 2005.

Royce's jail term has yet to be finalised but he must serve at least 13 years in prison due to fact he used a firearm and was a repeat offender.

Holloway, 38, plays Sawyer in the popular US series Lost, which is currently in its fourth season.

Jumper - 6/10/2008

Some kids break out in face-scarring acne. Most everyone's voice drops an octave or two. Yet right around the time David Rice (Max Thieriot) hit puberty, he discovered he could teleport. His first leap took him from a frozen lake to the local library so he could dodge a dangerous bully. He calls on the power to help him escape his abusive father (Michael Rooker, who you hire when Robert Patrick is unavailable). In time, the 15-year-old "bouncer" concocts schemes to rob banks, funding a lucrative lifestyle that starts drawing attention from unfavorable forces.

Hayden Christensen steps into the David Rice role as Jumper progresses and delivers a performance that's as bland and flavorless as his moniker suggests. Years after leaving home, David has mastered the art of jumping and uses it to have lunch atop the Great Sphinx, surf tubular waves off the coast of Fiji, flirt with chicks in a London pub, and take his high-school sweetheart, Millie (Rachel Bilson), around Rome's top tourist traps.

It's during that Italian jaunt when David encounters Griffin (Jamie Bell), a fellow teleporter who informs our hero of his new function in the age-old battle raging between special beings with "transportational" abilities. The jumpers are hunted by paladins, who appear to be led by Roland (Samuel L. Jackson), an ambiguous agent working for an unknown task force who believes only God deserves the ability to be anywhere at once. While Roland can't "jump," he does cover a lot of ground -- he discovers David in Manhattan, follows Millie to Italy, and then intercepts the couple in Detroit (which is where you jump when you run out of money to shoot in Chicago). He also piggybacks on Griffin's traveling wormhole for a climactic battle in the middle of an Egyptian desert.

A jumper's natural ability might be necessary to leapfrog the gaping plot holes in the Jumper script. Roland informs David that it's hard to teleport when electricity is being pumped through a jumper's brain, but doesn't elaborate why. And to where could a jumper actually jump? Can they merely look at a picture of a location and leap there (as suggested), or do they have to physically visit a spot before teleporting to it? David mentions something about "jumping spots" he has created around Tokyo, but the science behind the teleportation is never made clear.

Instead of delving into the clashing histories of jumpers and paladins, Jumper director Doug Liman develops the inane romance between David and Millie -- two empty vessels who make the Cloverfield kids look like Rhodes scholars. Christensen's stiff portrayal of Anakin Skywalker in George Lucas' Star Wars prequels earned him the fitting nickname "Mannequin" Skywalker. He shows no improvement as an actor, delivering lines in a monosyllabic pattern that's backed by a vacant stare. Bell and Bilson adequately overlook the overall nonsense of the story, while Jackson mails in his villainous part.

Liman musters plausible effects but directs without urgency. The action moves along to John Powell's jaunty, jazzy score, which counteracts Christensen's lifeless narration. At least Liman avoids easy green-screen technology to actually film his globetrotting scenes in world cities such as Paris, Rome, New York City, and Ann Arbor, Michigan. It lends a sliver of credibility to the production and tallies frequent flier miles for the director and his crew. At each stop, however, I wanted to send postcards to our old friend Mr. Logic that simply stated, "Wish you were here!"

Big wires make ya wanna... jump, jump.

Duran Duran - Mums The Word For Ronson Duran Duran Collaboration

Eighties rockers DURAN DURAN persuaded acclaimed DJ MARK RONSON to remix their classic hits in an unconventional way - they asked his mum ANN's permission.

The Girls On Film hitmakers were desperate to work with the superproducer, famed for his work with British singer Amy Winehouse, and asked his mum to try and tempt her talented son to update their 1980s tracks.

The British group have been friends with Ronson's parents, socialite Ann Dexter-Jones and music manager Laurence Ronson, and used their connections to land recording time with the Valerie hitmaker.

The band's bassist John Taylor says, "We've known Mark's parents for years and we talked to his mum Ann about this idea."

Ronson and the pop group have teamed up to work on a set for the Smirnoff Experience show on 2 July (08), which will incorporate songs they reworked. They'll premiere the finished product at Paris' La Cigale.

Fans beg Winehouse to quit drugs after video

Fans of troubled singer Amy Winehouse have begged her to get help after she was caught on video apparently smoking crack cocaine.
Footage obtained by The Sun appears to show her inhaling fumes from a crack pipe after an apparent 19-minute drugs binge in which she snorted ecstasy, cocaine and admitted to taking Valium tablets.
The disturbing images were said to have been filmed during a party at Winehouse's London home in the early hours of last Friday, just before she attended a court hearing for husband Blake Fielder-Civil. He is awaiting trial on charges of assault and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Looking dishevelled and wearing a grubby black vest in the video, Winehouse was barely able to talk. When friends ask her to go out with them, she is heard to reply: "I'd be useless to you because I've had about six Valium."
On the singer's website, fans warned the 24-year-old that she would die unless she sought help.
One fan said: "That video of you at home, which is now doing the rounds, will hopefully be instrumental in getting you where you need to be."
The fan quoted the mother of the late Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain, warning Winehouse not to "join that stupid club" of dead rock stars.
